Coral Beauty nipping xenia by: Danielle |
Here's the one that I watched, though there are others out there:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gKizvpGKPk
My royal gramma and clownfish never went near it, but my yellowtail blue damsel had a blast playing inside it, so if you need to get a damsel out of your tank, this trick will probably work. I also caught every hermit crab in my tank and one snail.
Note: If you make the hole too big like I did, and the fish keeps escaping, use a net to cover the hole before you grab for it. Nets travel through water much faster than hands.
Zoanthids growth? by: Tommygun |
People talk of zoanthids not growing down on surfaces just up and I am here the say from personal experience that zoanthids grown up, down, around, over and everywhere they can and will if conditions are right. From what I have seen my 2" frag went to about 6" in about 8 months. Good light exposure, high nutrients, and placing my zoanthids just under where my tangs attack their food really helps feed them at the same time.

Torch, Hammer, Branching Hammer, Anchor, Frogspawn, and Grap by: Tommygun |
I seem to have a really hard time keeping any of the wall hammers that I have bought and like other reefers have started to realize that if a wall hammer shows any receding of tissue at the time of sale it is not a smart investment to make. Then again it seems like most corals are not the best investments, then again the best things in life are not investment. I saw some guy online who had a tank full of just frogspawns and hammers and it was amazing.
Loose seaweed and algae by: ReefKing |
any type of organic material when decomposing will create NH3 . NH3 is then reduced to nitrite .... then to nitrate . keep your clean up crew stocked and you shouldnt have problems . hermit crabs will take care of business . | | | | |
